Our lab studies the critical role of wetlands, such as mangroves and tropical peatlands, as planetary-scale atmospheric carbon removal mechanisms. Despite providing crucial ecosystem services, human activities have significantly degraded wetlands worldwide, particularly in Asia-Pacific.
We work with state-of-the-art research devices within mangrove and peatland ecosystems to acquire near real-time monitoring of carbon exchange between wetland ecosystems, the atmosphere and the ocean.
Our research addresses pressing health and environmental regional concerns, including haze, flood control, and climate change.
